Tropicana’s Taste of the Quarter Event Raises Record-Setting $29,000 for United Way

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (August 21, 2014) — Amid the festive Latin flair of The Tropicana Casino & Resort, 1150 guests mixed, mingled, sampled and savored at the seventh annual Taste of the Quarter event on Monday, August 18, 2014. While attendees indulged in a spectacular array of culinary and beverage offerings, the evening, which for the first time was a family friendly event open to all ages, raised a record-setting $29,000 benefitting United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) in Atlantic County, bringing in $9000 more than last year’s event.

“Thanks to the energy, enthusiasm and commitment of all the event organizers and volunteers, this year’s Taste of the Quarter was a resounding and record-setting success,” said Steve Callender, General Manager for Tropicana, and 2014 United Way General Campaign Chair in Atlantic County. “We are so grateful to everyone who came out to support this wonderful cause.”

Participants who bought a $25 advance ticket or a $30 ticket at the door were given samples from more than 20 Tropicana dining destinations including Carmine’s, The Palm, Rí Rá Irish Pub, Cuba Libre, FIN, and Chickie’s & Pete’s Crab House and Sports Bar. On-air personalities from 95.1 WAYV and 100.7 WZXL and special appearances by local celebrities and dignitaries added to the celebratory ambiance.

“Tropicana’s Taste of the Quarter is more than just an event, it’s a robust example that together, we do more,” said John Emge, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey’s Executive Director in Atlantic and Cape May Counties. “Thanks to everyone involved, we are better positioned to advance our work in improving Education, Income and Health, as well as providing Basic Needs supports when our residents need them most. Together we drive measurable, lasting Impact that none of us can do alone.”
