Tropicana Chef, Terry Wargo, named “Pastry Chef of the Year”

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (March 20, 2017) – Tropicana Atlantic City’s Executive Pastry Chef, Terry Wargo, was recently named “Pastry Chef of the Year” by the Professional Chef’s Association of South Jersey.  Terry Wargo is responsible for overseeing the production of all of the desserts and pastries for all of Tropicana’s Food and Beverage outlets.

The Professional Chef’s Association of South Jersey is the local branch of the American Culinary Federation, the largest and most prestigious chefs’ organization in America. Each year, the PCASJ considers hundreds of pastry chef candidates throughout southern New Jersey for the “Pastry Chef of the Year” honor.

Winners must demonstrate professionalism, camaraderie, education and excellence in the culinary field. They must also be actively involved in the PCASJ’s events and charitable initiatives.

“We at the Tropicana have always been very proud of our food and beverage program and the professionalism that Chef Terry Wargo and his staff display every day,” said Renee Fleifel, Assistant Vice President of Food and Beverage at Tropicana Atlantic City.  “We are so grateful to be a part of the culinary community and be recognized amongst all the wonderful chefs in the South Jersey area.”

Terry currently resides in Mays Landing, New Jersey. He was part of the first classes at what went on to become the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic County Community College in Mays Landing.  He completed his apprenticeship at Bally’s under Certified Master Chef Heiko Bendixen and was then recruited to help open up Tropicana by Executive Pastry Chef Donna Adams.
