Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. to play Tropicana Atlantic City on June 11

 

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (April 28, 2016) – Let Tropicana take you “Up, Up and Away” with a musical celebration of iconic music starring Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. The legendary stars will perform live on Saturday, June 11, 2016. Show time is 8 p.m. in the Tropicana Showroom, with doors opening one hour earlier.

McCoo and Davis are the voices, original stars and lead singers of the legendary group, The 5th Dimension. Together, they launched Champagne and Pop Soul Classics, including  “Up, Up and Away,” “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In,” “Worst That Could Happen,” “Stoned Soul Picnic,” “Sweet Blindness,” “Wedding Bell Blues,” and “One Less Bell to Answer.”

After leaving The 5th Dimension, McCoo and Davis recorded “You Don’t Have to be a Star (to Be in My Show).” This chart-topping record won them their own Grammy Award and landed them a television series on CBS. Billboard dubbed them “The First Couple of Pop and Soul.”

Through the years, the couple has enjoyed tremendous success as recording artists, performers and authors. Davis focused on a gospel music career and McCoo performed in television’s variety show “Solid Gold.” They have received a total of seven Grammy Awards, earned 15 gold records and three platinum records.

In their live show, McCoo and Davis not only showcase their own well-known music, but perform a loving tribute to The Beatles with hits like “Get Back,” “We Can Work it Out,” “Yesterday,” “Hey Jude,” and “Let it Be.”
