The Gap Band Will Bring Their Funky Sounds to Tropicana This New Year’s Eve

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (November 14, 2016) — The hottest night of the year just got funkified! The Gap Band, featuring founder Ronnie Wilson, will bring their rhythm-filled anthems and stormy ballads to Atlantic City for an incredible New Year’s Eve concert at Tropicana. Show time is 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in the Tropicana Showroom. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.

The Gap Band formed in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the late 1960s by brothers Charlie, Ronnie and Robert Wilson. By the late 1970s, the group was scoring hits with songs like, “I’m in Love” and Shake.” 1980 saw the release of The Gap Band III, an album which reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 200 and included “Humpin’,” and “Yearning for Your Love” along with the number one R&B hit “Burn Rubber (Why You Wanna Hurt Me).” The album was followed up in 1982 by Gap Band IV, which contained the hit singles “Early in the Morning,” “You Dropped a Bomb on Me” and “Outstanding.”

Among the band’s many accolades is Dick Clark’s American Music Award and BMI’s Icon Urban Award. Their hit “Outstanding” has been used by more than 150 artists and remains one of the most sampled songs in history.
