ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (April 5, 2010) – One of the most recognized and distinguished voices in R&B music, Charlie Wilson, will have audiences swooning and grooving. Tropicana Casino & Resort announced Charlie Wilson will perform in the Tropicana Showroom Saturday, May 15.

The former lead singer of the GAP Band, Wilson’s second solo album Uncle Charlie has cemented his status a an R&B icon debuting at number one on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Chart and number two on the Billboard Hot 200, a career high.

Wilson received two 2010 Grammy award nominations for Best Album (Uncle Charlie) and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (“There Goes My Baby”), and a 2010 NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Male Artist. In 2009, Wilson was named Billboard Magazine’s Number One Urban Adult Contemporary Artist of 2009, a Soul Train Icon Award and “There Goes My Baby” was the number one Urban Adult Contemporary Single of 2009.

Wilson has also collaborated on a number of songs with Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake, R. Kelly, Lil Kim and T-Pain.

In addition to his music, Wilson is a spokesperson for the Prostate Cancer Foundation, a disease he was also diagnosed with. As part of his commitment to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, Wilson designs his own line of Fedora hats called “Uncle Charlie,” from which a portion of the proceeds benefit the Foundation.
